How it works

Three steps, zero uploads.

1
Pick your video

Drop in any MP4, MOV, WebM or MKV — even a 1GB screen recording or phone video.

2
Choose a target

WhatsApp (16MB), Discord (10MB), email (25MB), Instagram, or your own exact size in MB.

3
Download instantly

Your device's own hardware encoder does the work — usually faster than an upload would even take.

Compress video for WhatsApp (under 16 MB)

WhatsApp compresses videos aggressively and limits video messages to 16 MB in many regions. Send it yourself at the right size instead: pick the WhatsApp preset above and this tool calculates the exact bitrate so the output lands just under 16 MB with the best possible quality — no blurry surprise on the other end. The same trick works for Instagram Reels, Discord's 10 MB limit and email attachments (25 MB).

Why this compressor is different

Most "online video compressors" upload your file to their server, make you wait twice (upload + download), stamp a watermark on the result or cap you at 200 MB unless you pay. This tool uses your browser's built-in WebCodecs hardware encoding — the same technology video-call apps use — so a file that would take 20 minutes to upload compresses in a couple of minutes, privately, on your own machine. That's why there's no file size limit here: there's no server to protect.

Frequently asked questions

Is my video uploaded to a server?

No. Compression happens entirely inside your browser on your device's own hardware. You can watch the network tab: after the page loads, nothing is sent anywhere.

How do I get a video under 16 MB for WhatsApp?

Choose the WhatsApp preset, drop your video in, press Compress. The tool works out the exact bitrate (and resolution, if needed) to land under 16 MB.

Is there a file size limit?

No hard limit. The file is streamed piece by piece, so 500 MB–1 GB+ works on a modern desktop. Very large files on older phones may run out of memory — a desktop is recommended for 1 GB+.

Does it add a watermark or need an account?

Never. No watermark, no signup, no quota, nothing paywalled.

Which browsers work?

Chrome, Edge and Opera (desktop + Android) and Firefox 130+ are fully supported. Recent Safari versions work as well; older Safari may not support audio and the tool will tell you.

Why is the output slightly different from my target size?

The tool aims a few percent under your target to leave room for container overhead, so the file always fits under the limit you picked.
